01 Sound Creation
Sound Creation. Brush Basics 01 helps you develop a great brush sound. Professor Gould goes over some of the basic techniques including using the whole diameter of the drum, angles of attack and the push or “flick” technique using brushes.
Shapes. Brush Basics 02 demonstrates different approaches to playing sounds on the drum using basic shapes and lines—akin to a painter painting on canvas! These include pulsed and un-pulsed circles and connected and disconnected lines.
03 Swing Pattern
Swing Pattern. Professor Gould breaks down the basics of the swing pattern for brushes. This includes a detailed explanation of the left and right hands as well as manipulating the right-hand pattern for different emphasis and tips on incorporating variations for the left hand.
Ballad. Brush Basics 04 dives into playing ballads or slow tempos with brushes. Included in this video are a variety of shapes, patterns and variations one can play during a ballad or any slow tempo tune.
05 Extending Technique using Brushes.
